ISDN-PRI (Primary Rate Interface) service is designed to provide local access service for private branch exchanges (PBXs) and may be customized to meet specific subscriber requirements. The service supplies flexible bandwidth for a variety of simultaneous voice, data and video communications capabilities on a single T-1 facility.

SDN Primary Rate Interfaces
- Special type of trunking arrangement
- 23 voice paths and 1 common signaling (call control) for inbound and outbound paths
- Applications: PBX Trunks, Video Conferencing, Switched Data
Digital Trunks (Channel Associated Signaling Trunks)
- Less common type of trunking arrangement
- 24 voice paths, each with a signaling (call control) channel
- Paths are inbound and outbound
- Applications: PBX Trunks
Access options
- Delivered via DS-1 access to a customer’s PBX or switch
- Underlying transport may be DS-1, DS-3 or fiber
